Jr Programmer really needed?

Ok so im going to order a rev c today. Do i need to get a jr programmer?
Can I not just dump the nand via lpt, like the way it used to be done for jtags?


edit: so if that is correct, does it mean the only bit of kit that needs to be bought is the rev c?
