reading nand help

Hi all Sorry if this is not in the right place
i have just got my cr4 xl and qsb phat kit and i cant read my nand , i reall think its my soldering as i'm **** at it but one of my mates told me that i dont need the qsb kit to read my nand, could someone tell me how this is done please thanks for reading
